IS IT A BIRD? IS IT A PLANE? IS IT A... SNAIL. BEE... THING?
I'm going to be honest, I am becoming obsessed with all things Korean beauty at an alarmingly fast rate. There is something about the cute packaging, the odd mixture of ingredients, the futuristic methodology, and the bizarre textures that I find so entrancing! I've also noticed that there are some good makeup and skincare products that are available for a GOOD price!
If you are familiar with Korean Skin Care, then you know that the starting lineup for a night time or day time skin care regimen rolls pretty deep. It's common in Korean skincare to use between 10-15 different skin care products EVERY TIME YOU WASH YOUR FACE! I can't even wash my face with Philosophy Purity facial cleanser for the recommended 30 seconds before rinsing, better yet use 12 different products on my face. I don't even know what other products you can put on your face besides face wash, exfoliate, toner, moisturizer, and the occasional night time mask. I am still figuring out what the main procedural process is to washing my face the K-way, but if there's one thing I do know, it is that you definitely need to have that ~ESSENCE~.
SO, I'm going to into the whole discussion of what an ~essence~ actually is in another post because it is too long and complicated to include here, but it is ~essentially~ (see what I did there?) a concentrated, oil-like, substance that has a good amount of active ingredients that are supposed to nourish and hydrate your skin. It's really like a serum in my opinion, but I'm sure there are subtle differences. I also don't know too much about either since I am very new to this anti-aging skincare game as a whole. I honestly wasn't sure what I was really looking for. I think I was actually looking for a peel off mask for my pores instead of a serum on Amazon and this Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence came up as a suggested product. I was intrigued by the weird animal/insect combination and thought, "Well, this has got to be good stuff because Bee Venom and Snail goop are really hot right now". So I took a scroll down the reviews and saw some positive feedback.
OK, so I have really sensitive skin. That being said, All sensitive skin is not created equally. I did not get any burning or irritation from this product. It goes on quite cooling and then dissipates almost instantly. I really enjoy the fact that it doesn't leave an oily residue on my face and that I can feel like my skin is hydrated, but not greasy. I have noticed a good amount of hydration in my skin, suppleness, and an overall brightness to my complexion. It's got whitening properties, but don't freak out! My face is NOT like 5 shades lighter than my body. It brightens in the sense where it gets rid of hyper pigmentation and dark spots. I have freckles and have had a couple of acne scars on my face (especially the chin area ~stress pimples) and I have noticed that the acne scars have really faded! It has not faded the darkness of my freckles, but that's okay because I like my freckles anyways. I use this product at night after I wash my face and spray rose water and before I apply any heavy moisturizer or cream.
