Feelin' the Peelin'.
I would consider myself new to the "skin peel game". Generally the term "peel" doesn't a-peel to my sensitive skin (did you see what I did there?). No joke, my skin is EXTREMELY sensitive so the idea of a chemical solution that will literally peel off the outer most layer of my skin sounds not only painful, but downright dangerous. Usually I stick to the more conventional ways of exfoliating which consists of gentle scrubs. However, the Chicago winter hit my skin pretty hard and I had a lot of rough patches that I was just not getting to with my "gentle scrubbing". So what lead me to Boscia, you ask? Quite frankly speaking, a Snapchat of the Luminizing Black Mask that you can peel off! Okay, okay, so it wasn't the peel that I was originally intending on trying. I was instantly entranced by the peeling off powers of the Luminizing Black Mask that I delve into a rabbit hole of all things Boscia. That, my friends, is how I found out about the Boscia Exfoliating Peel Gel. After watching and reading up on reviews saying that the peeling was literally painless I decided that I would deeply consider it after buying the mask. What really happened was that I was taken to Sephora on a whim during the VIB sale and I, knowing that I would get a discount, lost all sense of self control and bought both. Best. Move. Ever.
So, the low down is this: you will actually freak out the first time you try this product. I FREAKED when I started rubbing the gel along my cheeks and forehead because I actually saw particles rubbing off of my face. APPARENTLY, this is not dead skin, but actually the physical exfoliate particles being created by the friction of rubbing the gel on your skin. However, there is something so satisfying about seeing the particles develop and knowing that you will be a layer smoother at the end of the process.
How my sensitive skin reacted: Swimmingly. My skin didn't have any reactions after using it and it really did improve the texture of my skin! I have dry patches on my cheekbones and along my freckles and the patches seem to have vanished. My skin looks brighter and is smoother as well. Also, when I got back from a vacation in Hawaii, my skin was HELLA BURNT and was not taking it very well. I gave my skin a few days to heal over, but when the peeling started up in full swing I caved and reached for the exfoliates. Mind you, my skin flakes off on it's own when it's dead and gone, I don't have to agitate it at all for it to start falling off in bulk so I thought a little exfoliating might help sooth the itchiness. I used the gel and it drastically reduced the amount of peeling I had, but mind you- I waited until most of the redness went down and my face wasn't inflamed anymore (around 4 days). I could tell it was peeling my tanned skin since the particles were a lot darker than usual.
Final Thoughts: I say check it out! If you have really sensitive skin like mine, don't worry, it won't physically harm you. My skin turned out smoother, brighter, cleaner, and softer. Use twice a week, but I only reach for this once a week based on my particular skin type.
