1. ALOE VERA GEL
This may seem like a summertime skin treatment since it is most associated with treating sunburns, Aloe Vera is actually beneficial all year round. I go for the 99% pure Aloe Vera that you can get at Whole Foods just because I know that I’m piling on the good stuff. If you got a bit of a winter rash or windburn going on, slather this stuff all over and feel the cool tingling sensation that lets you know you are ~healing~.
2. NEUTROGENA BODY OIL
It has a light sesame fragrant- I have warned you. The smell is a light floral/nutty scent. The Neutrogena Body Oil actually does wonders for the dry skin all over your body. You put this on at the very end of your shower, let it sink in, then pat yourself dry. If you are like me and you like to go above and beyond the moisturizing call of duty, put some body butter on and go on with your soft self
3. LUSH RO'S ARGAN BODY CONDITIONER
This is another shower power house. Lush Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner smells like you are rubbing Rose Petals and Argan Oil all over your body (LUXURY). You throw this on at the end of your shower like you would if you were putting on lotion. It is recommended to let it sink in and then to rinse it off, however, on very dry days I consider it a “leave in” and don’t rinse at all. Prepare yourself, you will smell and feel heavenly alllllll dayyyy long.
4. COCONUT OIL
In certain populations of makeup/beauty enthusiasts this is a miracle product. Coconut oil works well for hair, face skin, it can be consumed, you can use it as lip balm, makeup remover, hair conditioner. If you're looking for mega moisture on a budget, pick up a tub of Organic Coconut Oil at any grocery store or wholefoods. Places like Costco even sell it (mind you, in bulk).
5. VASELINE WITH COCOA BUTTER
You might be thinking “uhmm no to the vaseline”, but rest your fears aside because vaseline is actually amazing for harsh winters. There’s a myth saying that vaseline will make you break out, but that is actually not the case. In these cold times, I like to slather a small dollop size portion of Vaseline with Cocoa butter all over my face before I go to bed and wake up with baby soft skin that is free of any flakes or dry patches even in the peak of single digit temperatures.
6. (INSERT NAME OF FAVORITE) BODY BUTTER
This one is definitely a given. It’s very well known that body butter is thicker than lotion and that it comes in handy in the colder seasons. I like to use this one from Scottish Fine Soap Company called Au Lait. It has a faint clean scent that smells like well… Milk which I like and it leaves my skin nice and moisturized throughout the day to boot. Go ahead and use any body butter of your choice during this chilly weather and remember- when it comes to body butter, there’s never too much of a good thing.
7. NATURE REPUBLIC SHEA BUTTER SHEET MASK
Sheet masks are a gift given to us by the Korean Cosmetic Geniuses! I'm not going to lie, the first time I put one of these babies on I creeped myself out. However, they are AMAZING for locking in moisturizing products like Shea Butter and this Nature Republic brand uses all natural products. Don't rinse off the ~essence~ after you take off the mask. You'll be left with supple and dewy skin, trust. Don’t look in the mirror to extensively too until you get used to it.
8. SMITH'S ROSEBUD SALVE
As you may have guessed by now, petroleum jelly is your friend. This Salve is the perfect balm to have in your purse when you're out and about in the cold. I like to use this on my lips and on patches of dry skin. You can tame flyaways with this stuff, moisturize your cuticles, make tinted lip gloss, even fix a jammed zipper with this stuff. It comes in two forms, the circular tin form and more of a lip balm form. Either way, it’s a miracle product that smells of roses. Basically, it’s perfect.
9. HERBIVORE ROSE LIP BUTTER
I get into a really big Rose phase whenever the season turns for the worst. You may be thinking, “Okay, enough with the Rose infused products crazy lady!”, but seriously, I can’t help it. This is the last rose scented product I promise! Herbivore Rose Lip Butter is an all natural product that is so sleek in it’s little tin. It also is a balm that absorbs so quickly once you put it on your lips that you can barely feel it on- which is something I like. No sticky or shiny finish. No getting your scarf stuck to you lips because of your lip balm- win, win.
10.ORIGINS DRINK UP INTENSIVE OVERNIGHT MASK
This product is definitely a NECESSITY. I can’t stress enough how much I love the Origins Drink Up Overnight Mask. I even go a bit rogue and put this on in the morning against its instructed “night time use”. You put this cream on at night (or whenever you want, like me) and it creates thin mask layer that you don’t rinse off. It’s like leave-in conditioner for your face. It smells light and citrusy. You wake up with skin completely quenched skin- hence the Drink Up.
